Vitrectomy Surgery In Chandigarh

In Vitrectomy surgery, the vitreous is removed and the eye is repaired. This surgery is done to treat many vision problems including cataracts and refractive errors.

In Chandigarh, vitrectomy surgery is mainly done on patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The surgeon removes the vitreous body and replaces it with a gel-like substance. This restores sight in people who have lost significant vision as a result of AMD.

Types of Vitrectomy

Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is the most common type of vitrectomy. It is also the least expensive and easiest to perform. PPV is performed through a small incision in the lower eyelid, and the eye is filled with gas and air. This forces the lens to pull away from the retina, which allows doctors to remove part or all of the vitreous.

TSV is a variation of PPV that uses a thin piece of plastic instead of air to fill the eye. This makes TSV less uncomfortable than PPV and allows for a wider range of lens removal. TSV can be performed through an endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach.

Endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal vitrectomy (ESV) is a newer type of vitrectomy that uses an endoscope to access the eye. ESV allows doctors to remove more lenses than other types of vitreoretinopathy, and it has fewer complications than other types of vitrectomy.
