Fellowship in Surgical Retina
Job Summary:
The Surgical Retina Fellowship offers comprehensive clinical training and practical experience in managing and surgically treating complex vitreoretinal disorders.
It is tailored for ophthalmologists aiming to refine their surgical expertise and gain thorough exposure to advanced retinal procedures.
Program Details:
OPD & Procedures:
- The fellowship provides comprehensive training in evaluating and managing patients with retinal disorders.
- Fellows will work with advanced diagnostic tools such as Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, OCT, Fundus Photography, FFA, OCT-A, and B-Scan.
- Rotational postings in outpatient departments offer opportunities to handle independent cases under expert supervision.
Clinical Experience:
First 3 Months – Induction Phase:
- Focused training in clinical assessment of retinal conditions.
- Exposure to diagnostic imaging and case-specific treatment planning.
- Guided experience in managing complex cases, including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, and retinal detachment.
Following 3 Months:
- Emphasis on surgical retina training with hands-on experience in the operating room.
- Involvement in surgeries for retinal detachment, macular holes, diabetic retinopathy, and related conditions.
Key Surgical Training Areas:
Vitreoretinal Surgeries:
- Techniques for repairing retinal detachment using PPV (Pars Plana Vitrectomy) and scleral buckling.
- Surgical approaches for macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and vitreomacular traction.
- Management of diabetic retinal conditions using panretinal photocoagulation and focal laser.
- Advanced surgical interventions for retinal vascular pathologies and ischemic conditions.
Hands-on Surgical Training:
- Practical exposure to advanced procedures such as vitrectomy, membrane peeling, and endolaser applications.
- Training in administering intravitreal injections and using cutting-edge anti-VEGF therapies like Aflibercept, Brolucizumab, Faricimab, and Dexamethasone implants.
- Surgical management of ocular trauma, retinal hemorrhages, and retinal tears.
Post-surgical Management & Follow-up:
- Comprehensive training in post-operative care, including patient education, counseling, and long-term follow-up to ensure successful surgical outcomes.
