Senior Optometrist
Job Summary:
Eye Mantra in Bahadurgarh is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Optometrist to join our team. The role involves delivering comprehensive eye care services, including advanced vision assessments, diagnosis of ocular conditions, and prescription of corrective lenses. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in optometry, including expertise in refraction, proficient use of slit-lamp equipment, and the capability to guide and mentor a team of optometrists while ensuring high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Consultation & Vision Testing:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and overall ocular health.
- Conduct precise refraction tests to diagnose refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia, and prescribe suitable corrective lenses.
- Utilize and manage slit-lamp equipment to evaluate anterior eye structures for conditions like cataracts, corneal disorders, and conjunctivitis.
- Carry out advanced diagnostic procedures, including tonometry for intraocular pressure, retinal imaging, and visual field analysis to detect early signs of glaucoma and other eye diseases.
Patient Management:
- Recommend appropriate vision correction solutions including eyeglasses, contact lenses, and low vision aids.
- Diagnose and manage routine ocular conditions such as dry eye syndrome, allergic conjunctivitis, and mild infections.
- Educate patients on eye care practices, proper lens usage, and preventive measures.
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists for further evaluation or surgical intervention when necessary.
Leadership & Team Coordination:
- Supervise and mentor junior optometrists and clinic support staff.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care with an emphasis on accuracy and professionalism.
- Continuously evaluate and improve clinical protocols, workflows, and patient interaction strategies within the optometry department.
Technology & Equipment Management:
- Operate and oversee the maintenance of diagnostic instruments including refraction systems, slit-lamp devices, and other essential equipment.
- Stay informed about new technologies and best practices in optometry.
- Train team members in the proper use, calibration, and care of diagnostic tools.
Collaboration & Referral:
- Coordinate closely with ophthalmologists, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
- Facilitate timely referrals for specialized treatment or surgical procedures when indicated.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions to support comprehensive care planning.
Record-Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and complete records of patient evaluations, diagnoses, prescriptions, and follow-ups.
- Ensure adherence to clinical documentation standards and confidentiality protocols.
- Assist in compiling patient progress updates and reports for internal review and quality assurance.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optometry (B.Optom or M.Optom)
- Additional certifications in areas such as contact lenses, low vision care, or pediatric optometry are advantageous
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on clinical experience in optometric practice
- Demonstrated expertise in performing refraction, operating slit-lamp equipment, and conducting advanced diagnostic tests
- Prior experience in supervising and mentoring junior optometrists
Skills:
- Strong understanding of optometric science, clinical protocols, and patient-centered care
- Proficient in the use of slit-lamp machines, autorefractors, tonometers, and other diagnostic instruments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for both patient interaction and team leadership
- Capable of diagnosing, treating, and managing various ocular conditions, including refractive errors, dry eye syndrome, and common eye diseases
- Ability to identify and resolve equipment-related issues to ensure uninterrupted clinical operations
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in pediatric optometry and managing specialized eye care cases.
- Familiarity with the latest developments in optometric practices, techniques, and technology.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in Hindi or English, will be considered an added advantage.
