General Ophthalmology Fellowship
Job Summary:
Candidates will receive training in diagnosing and managing common eye conditions, focusing on clinical evaluation, the use of diagnostic procedures, medical therapies, surgical techniques, and research methodologies.
The clinical training includes rotational postings across various subspecialties within the outpatient department. Fellows will be encouraged to conduct in-depth evaluations, utilizing clinical reasoning and diagnostic data to achieve accurate diagnoses.
Program Details:
- As part of the comprehensive fellowship program, doctors will undergo a two-year rotational training, spending three months in each ophthalmic subspecialty.
- The specialties covered include:
- Cataract and Refractive Surgery
- Vitreo-Retina
- Glaucoma
- Pediatric Ophthalmology
- Oculoplasty
- Fellows will gain extensive exposure to a variety of advanced imaging technologies such as PENTACAM, AS-OCT, ABERROMETRY, ocular surface analysis and meibography (OSA), intraoperative OCT, OCT-Angiography, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography, color fundus photography with autofluorescence, USG-B scan, Ultrasound Biomicroscopy, gonioscopy, UBM, ASOCT, Anterion OCT RNFL, HVF, and syringing techniques.
- Training will also include pre-operative patient care and counseling for various ophthalmic procedures.
Surgical exposure will range from hands-on training in cataract surgery to observation, assistance, wet lab sessions, and independent performance across all specialty surgeries. - Weekly academic sessions will include case discussions, seminars, and journal club presentations.
Additionally, the program emphasizes the development of soft skills such as effective communication, patient counseling, and hospital administration.
