Glaucoma Fellowship
Job Summary:
The Glaucoma Fellowship at Eye Mantra is a structured training program aimed at developing expertise in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Fellows will benefit from broad clinical exposure, practical hands-on experience, and training with advanced diagnostic technologies and modern treatment approaches for glaucoma care.
Program Details:
OPD & Procedures:
- The fellowship offers intensive training in the clinical evaluation and management of glaucoma patients.
- Fellows will gain access to advanced diagnostic tools, including Tonometry, Perimetry, OCT, Fundus Photography, and Gonioscopy.
- Regular rotations in outpatient departments provide opportunities to independently manage glaucoma cases under expert supervision.
- Training covers both primary and secondary glaucomas, including open-angle, angle-closure, and pediatric types.
Program Structure:
First 3 Months – Induction Phase:
- Thorough introduction to the fundamentals of glaucoma diagnosis and treatment.
- Hands-on training in performing diagnostic evaluations such as visual field analysis, tonometry, OCT, and gonioscopy.
- Instruction in optic nerve head (ONH) assessment, RNFL analysis, and interpretation of diagnostic imaging.
- Case-based learning focused on understanding glaucoma pathophysiology and exploring both medical and surgical treatment plans.
- Exposure to pharmacological therapies, including prostaglandin analogs, beta-blockers, alpha agonists, and combination drugs.
Next 3 Months – Advanced Clinical and Surgical Training:
- Training in managing complex glaucoma presentations.
- Practical experience in surgical procedures including Trabeculectomy, Tube Shunt Surgery, and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).
- Supervised hands-on involvement in glaucoma surgeries and assistance in the operating room.
- Introduction to advanced techniques such as Endoscopic Cyclophotocoagulation (ECP) and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT).
- Active participation in clinical research, case discussions, and evidence-based treatment planning.
