Job Summary:
The Squint & Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship at Eye Mantra offers focused training in diagnosing and managing pediatric eye conditions, including strabismus (squint), amblyopia, and other common childhood ocular disorders. The program combines clinical exposure with surgical training, preparing fellows to deliver comprehensive and specialized eye care for children.
Program Details:
OPD & Procedures:
- The fellowship provides in-depth training in diagnosing and managing pediatric eye conditions.
- Fellows gain hands-on experience with essential diagnostic procedures such as Visual Acuity Testing, Cycloplegic Refraction, Retinoscopy, and Strabismus Testing.
- They will also be trained in using advanced imaging tools like pediatric fundus photography and OCT.
- Regular rotations in pediatric ophthalmology clinics allow for independent case management under expert supervision.
- Clinical exposure includes common pediatric conditions like amblyopia, refractive errors, strabismus (squint), congenital cataracts, and ocular trauma.
Program Structure:
First 3 Months – Induction Phase:
- Foundational training in pediatric ophthalmology and the management of squint.
- Introduction to basic diagnostic procedures in children, including visual acuity evaluation, refractive error testing, and squint assessment.
- Management of early childhood eye conditions such as amblyopia and strabismus in both infants and older children.
- Case-based discussions and mentorship focused on early diagnosis and timely intervention of pediatric ocular diseases.
Next 3 Months – Advanced Clinical & Surgical Training:
- Comprehensive training in both non-surgical and surgical treatment of squint.
- Hands-on experience in strabismus surgeries, including botulinum toxin injections and adjustable suture techniques.
- Management of complex pediatric conditions such as congenital cataracts and pediatric glaucoma.
- Exposure to pediatric ocular emergencies and rare or challenging cases.
- Involvement in both surgical and non-surgical treatment approaches for pediatric refractive errors and amblyopia.
- Participation in visual rehabilitation programs and counseling sessions with families regarding treatment plans and long-term care.
