Vitrectomy Surgery In Gulbarga

Vitrectomy surgery is one of the most common ophthalmic surgeries performed in Gulbarga. It can be used to treat many different diseases or conditions, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. A vitrectomy is a surgery that removes a small piece of the vitreous humor, or clear gel that fills the eye. This procedure is used to treat various conditions that can cause vision loss, such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal detachment, and diabetic retinopathy.

Vitrectomy surgery is relatively safe and can be done on either eye. Most patients experience minimal discomfort following their surgery, although some may experience mild pain at the site of the operation. Patients should expect to see improved vision within weeks following their vitrectomy operation.

Types of Vitrectomy

Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is the most common type of vitrectomy. It is done using a tiny telescope called a pars plana microscope to peer into the eye’s vitreous chamber. The surgeon then cuts away any diseased or damaged tissue in the chamber.

Transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV) uses a thin, flexible tube called a Rajon needle to enter the eye through the eyelids and cut away any diseased or damaged tissue in the vitreous chamber. TSV is often used when there is only mild disease in the eye, or when there is no access to the front surface of the eyeball (the cornea).

Endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach uses an endoscope inserted through the pupil into the retina to remove diseased or damaged tissue in the subretinal space. This surgery is usually done when there is a significant disease in the eye, but it can also be used for minor problems such as dry eyes.
