Vitrectomy Surgery In Mumbai

Looking for vitrectomy surgery in Mumbai? You’ve come to the right place! Our team of surgeons at Mantracare is skilled in performing vitrectomy surgeries, which are a type of eye surgery that removes the vitreous humor (a clear, jelly-like substance that fills the eye) and restores vision. Vitrectomy surgeries can be performed on both eyes or one eye, depending on your specific needs.

When you’re ready for vitrectomy surgery in Mumbai, our team will work with you to determine your eligibility and ensure that you have a safe and successful procedure. We offer a variety of vitrectomy procedures, including open vitrectomy and endovitreal-assisted vitrectomy.

Open vitrectomy is the most common type of vitrectomy, and it involves removing the entire lens and surface of the eye’s lens capsule. Endovitrealassisted vitrectomy is a newer technology that uses a small telescope to insert a special endoscope through the eyelid into the eye. This allows us to remove the lens and other materials from inside the eye.

Types of Vitrectomy

Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is the most common type of vitrectomy. A small incision is made in the lower border of the window, and the eye is carefully elevated so that the vitreous can be removed. The advantage of PPV is that it is a minimally invasive procedure and does not require stitches. PPV may be preferred for patients with thinned or transparentness in the posterior chamber, as well as for those who have poor vision in either eye.

Transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV) involves making an incision just above the lower eyelid and then removing the vitreous through this opening. TSV has been shown to be more successful than PPV in achieving good vision due to the preservation of both the retina and choroid plexus. TSV also has a low complication rate, making it suitable for patients with high-risk factors for surgery such as severe dry eye syndrome or prior refractive surgery.

Endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach uses an endoscope to enter and remove the vitreous directly from within the eye without making any external incisions. This technique has been shown to be more effective than either PPV or TSV in achieving good vision due to better removal of debris and reduced risk of retinal detachment. However, endoscopic subretinal approaches are generally more complicated and require longer hospital stays than either PPV or TSV
