Vitrectomy Surgery In Mysore

Vitrectomy surgery is a surgical procedure used to remove vitreous fluids from an eye. It is performed in order to correct or improve vision. There are several types of vitrectomy surgery, each with its own benefits and drawbacks. The most common type of vitrectomy surgery is called a transconjunctival vitrectomy.

This surgery is usually done on patients who have lost significant amounts of visual clarity due to age-related macular degeneration or other causes. Transconjunctival vitrectomy involves removing the vitreous fluid from around the eye using a special tool called a cannula. This procedure can be done through the patient’s eyesight or through an operating room window.

Types of Vitrectomy

There are three main types of vitrectomy: pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV), and endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach.

PPV is the most common type of vitrectomy, and it is performed through a small incision in the lower lid.

TSV is less common and is done through a small hole in the middle of the eyelid.

Endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach, is used in cases where an incision into the eye itself is not possible because of vision problems or other medical conditions. This type of surgery involves making an opening in the retina using an endoscope.
