Superficial anterior lamellar keratoplasty (SALK) is another technique that removes the entire outer layer of the eye, but it works in a unique way. As its name suggests, SALK is much less invasive than other surgical techniques because it involves removing only a thin portion of the inner tissue and doesn’t involve cutting or sewing any additional tissue into place.

Artificial Cornea Transplant (Keratoprosthesis) is a surgical technique that is used when most other options have failed. This technique involves using an artificial cornea to restore vision, which is often done after patients suffer damage from severe trauma or infection.
