Keratoplasty /Cornea Transplant Surgery in Rohtak

Corneal transplant surgery is a highly effective way to restore vision for people with serious corneal damage. There are several different types of corneal transplant surgery that can be used to achieve this goal.

• One type of corneal transplant surgery, known as penetrating keratoplasty (PK), is performed using a surgical knife to enter the eye through the front surface and remove damaged tissue. This procedure is usually done on people who have lost their sight in one or both eyes because of severe corneal diseases, such as keratoconus or advanced dry eye syndrome.
• Another type of corneal transplant surgery, Descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK/ DSAEK), is a more advanced procedure that uses a special device called an endothelial keratoplasty blade to remove damaged tissue and replace it with healthy grafts from the donor area. This procedure is most often used on people who have moderate to severe advanced dry eye syndrome and have failed multiple other treatment options.
• The third type of corneal transplant surgery, Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK), uses the same technique as DSEK but replaces the donor area with artificial materials instead of grafts. This procedure is typically used on people who have had DSEK but want additional protection against future vision loss due to dry eye syndrome.
• The fourth type of corneal transplant surgery, known as Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (DALK), is performed using a surgical knife to enter the eye through the front surface and remove the diseased innermost layer of the cornea, known as the Descemet’s membrane. This procedure is usually done on people who have keratoconus or advanced dry eye syndrome and want an alternative to PK surgery.
• The fifth type of corneal transplant surgery, known as Superficial anterior lamellar keratoplasty (SALK) is performed using a surgical knife to enter the eye through the front surface and remove the diseased outermost layer of the cornea, known as the epithelium. This procedure is most often used on people who have minor corneal damage and want an alternative to PK surgery. 
• The final type of corneal transplant surgery, known as Artificial Cornea Transplant (Keratoprosthesis) surgery, uses an artificial cornea to replace the damaged tissue. This procedure is typically used on people who have failed other transplant surgeries or who have very severe corneal damage.
