Keratoplasty /Cornea Transplant Surgery in Shahjahanpur

There are a few types of corneal transplant surgeries. The most common type is penetrating keratoplasty, which uses a blade to make a hole in the cornea. This type of surgery is usually done on people who have lost their eyesight due to damage to the eye or cancer.

The Descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) and Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) are two other types of corneal transplants. With DALK, the surgeon makes a small hole in the front part of your eye and then fills it with artificial material called keratoprosthesis. This material helps your natural tears stick to your eyeball and create clear vision again. Superficial anterior lamellar keratoplasty (SALK) is an alternative to DALK that uses less artificial material. SALK surgeons make a smaller hole in the front of your eye and only replace the part of your cornea that is damaged.

Artificial Cornea Transplant (Keratoprosthesis) is a type of surgery where an artificial cornea is placed in the eye. This type of transplant is usually done when other types of transplants have failed. A keratoprosthesis is made out of plastic, glass, or metal. It helps to protect the eye and improve vision.
