Vitrectomy Surgery In Sirsa

Vitrectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the vitreous body or ” vitreous humor ” from the eye. Vitreous humor is a clear fluid that fills the space between the lens of the eye and the retina. Vitrectomy can be used to treat many different conditions, including diabetes, retinitis pigmentosa, and advanced age-related macular degeneration.

Vitrectomy surgery is usually done as an outpatient procedure. The patient will usually stay overnight in the hospital but may be able to go home the following day. After surgery, patients will typically have some discomfort and a few drops of blood in their eyes throughout the first few days. Most people are able to return to work within a few days after vitrectomy surgery.

Types of Vitrectomy

There are three main types of vitrectomy: pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV), and endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach.

PPV is the most common type of vitrectomy and is performed using a small incision in the clear outer layer of the eye.

TSV is a less invasive procedure that uses a thin, sharpened needle to break the seal between the eyeball and its surrounding membranes. The needle is then inserted through this opening and into the eye’s interior. The TSV procedure is usually less painful than PPV, but it can be more difficult to perform because it requires more skill.

Endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach is a relatively new technique that uses a tiny camera and surgical tools to enter the eye through its surface. This method is sometimes used when other methods are not possible or when there is concern about damage to the eye during surgery.
