Vitrectomy Surgery In Delhi

Vitrectomy surgery is a type of eye surgery that is used to treat various retinal disorders. This surgery involves removing the vitreous gel from the eye and replacing it with a sterile solution.

During the surgery, your surgeon will make small incisions in the white part of your eye (the sclera). A small instrument called a vitrector is then used to remove the vitreous gel from your eye. Once the gel has been removed, your surgeon will then fill the empty space with a sterile solution.

If you are considering vitrectomy surgery in Delhi, be sure to consult with an experienced ophthalmologist who can answer all of your questions and help you make an informed decision about whether or not this procedure is right for you.

Types of Vitrectomy

Surgical vitrectomy is further divided into different types according to the type of surgery: pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV), and endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal approach.

PPV is performed through a small incision at the side of the cornea, usually in the limbus area. It involves making precise cuts in the retina and vitreous to remove scar tissue or blood that has accumulated inside the eye. This procedure is typically used to treat retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, and vitreous hemorrhage.

TSV is a newer technique that involves making small incisions in the conjunctiva (the thin membrane lining the inner surface of the eyelids) rather than directly on the cornea. This approach results in less trauma to the eye, quicker recovery time, and fewer potential complications compared to PPV. It is commonly used to treat various retinal conditions, particularly when the eyeball has been significantly damaged or inflamed.

Lastly, endoscopic subretinal or epiretinal procedures are performed through small incisions made in the sclera (white part of the eye) to gain access to the vitreous and retina.
